When I wrote the article, no sources I found (and I spent a a full day searching and emailing contacts) had information that the girl had told anyone she was bisexual.

But even if she did, signing an agreement about “moral behaviors” does not excuse what happened. And guess what? LGBTQ people learn to lie to protect ourselves from bigots. We won’t apologize for that. We lie proudly and defiantly.

If that school had tried to kick out a student for dating somebody of another race or for being disabled, the school would have run afoul of civil rights law. And they would pay the consequences.

LGBTQ people deserve exactly that same equality. Period. We will accept nothing less.
