When I was growing up, I often heard the conservative platitude about the American justice system that it's better to acquit 10 guilty men than to convict one innocent man.

That's never been actually true, so far as I know, especially when Black people are involved.

But today, conservatives don't even pretend to embrace their former value. They don't even pretend to value life.

Every expert who's taken a deep look at this case says that this man is probably actually innocent. They say that there was certainly not enough evidence to convict him.

But Republicans just had to score political points by killing him anyway.

Unspeakable evil.
