When I was a young man learning about being gay and and gay sex, there was no such thing as normal. We had to learn from ourselves and make up the rules as we went.

So I absolutely get what Dan Savage is saying. I wonder, though, if that isn’t changing a little bit.

Young LGB people today, and from a very early age generally, are not learning from one another so much as from porn.

Now, I don’t have anything against porn in general, but I do see its Internet omnipresence enforcing certain ideas of normality in young LGB people.

I hope we don’t become as a wrapped up in tradition now that it’s so easily passed on.
