When I was a teenager and young adult, and especially during my time in the military, whenever Martin Luther King's birthday rolled around, many of the white people I knew cursed his name and called him the n-word.

The idea that any white person alive today should use his name to advance the idea that we don't need fundamental reform to combat systemic racism is ... I don't even know what to say.

The sheer hypocrisy and gall of a position like that are over the top and utterly unacceptable.
