When I make art, I pour myself into it in a process that is sometimes physically wrenching. The impulse behind creation is ultimately sharing and communin with others. Art isn’t just beauty, although an esthetic is always present, I think.

Vision is hard. Finding vision and having it not really appreciated is harder.

Is the pain of the frustrated artist a universal prerequisite of the artistic process?
