When I lived in New York City in the 1990s, Americans often complained about the supposed "War on Christmas." New Yorkers mostly didn't though, because New York is amazingly diverse. It's home to people with roots all over the world, with all sorts of holiday traditions.

Saying "Happy holidays" to a neighbor or acquaintance made sense (to me) when I lived in NYC, and to lots of other people, for purely practical reasons. When we heard about the "War on Christmas," I think we mostly rolled our eyes.

I can't believe people are still on about it three decades later.

Some people need to grow up.
