When I hear my Evangelical family and their friends telling themselves the miracle stories, I want to scream out, “but that’s not how this works, that’s not how any of this works!”

But they can’t see it. Or won’t see it.

They just keep celebrating the miracles and ignoring the everyday, ordinary suffering — the suffering they quite often brought on themselves.
