What's so scary and outraging about this story is how common it is — and how little people are paying attention. This sort of brutal treatment goes on just about every day in the United States, as documented by a constant flood of YouTube videos people post showing outrageous police behavior not quite violent enough to make mainstream news reporting.

If you're so inclined, you can watch videos every day of cops treating Black people like dirt, forcing them out of vehicles, handcuffing them, knocking them to the ground, etc, and even that's only the tip of the iceberg, the videos often as not resulting from Freedom of Information requests for body cam footage.

For people who are not tenacious enough to follow through on requesting that footage, assault by cop goes unseen by anyone.

Are these videos making any difference? Apparently not. In almost every instance, police departments vigorously back up their officers, excusing even the most egregiously unprofessional and violent behavior.

Cops in this country are absolutely out of control. Cop culture is brutal, physically violent, and bullying.

Black people are bearing the brunt of it, and nothing is getting better.
