What’s a real deal breaker for me with respect to the Catholic Church is that nuns, monks, and priests have to affirm the doctrines of the church — including that LGBTQ people are depraved and disordered— just to become nuns, monks, and priests. It’s no surprise that with that kind of gatekeeping in place, the leaders of the Catholic Church do horrible things. It’s because they are horrible people.

I understand there are a few exceptions, but not very many. Most nuns, monks and priests are vicious bigots and terrible bullies.
