What strikes me the most, although it’s a minor detail, is how everyone just seems to accept that his being molested as a child caused him to “struggle with same-sex attraction.”

I know that’s a popular myth, but we know empirically there’s no truth to it. Whenever the propensity for same-sex attraction gels in a human brain, be it pre or just post-natal, we know for sure that by the time a boys is 8 years old, it’s already far past time to try to influence how he will experience sexual attraction later in life.

This isn’t even mildly controversial among people who study mental health and sexuality.

It’s discouraging that so many people choose not to know things that are so easily known.
