What most people do is leave a note on the draft. They usually call it “note to self.” Then either I or any other P&P editor will see it when we go in to take a first look.
But I actually thought what you did was fine. Your explanation and suggestion at the beginning made perfect sense to me. I don’t see any realistic way (or compelling reason) to shorten this, or I would have asked you to.
P&P writers can attest I’m far from shy with editing suggestions. ;-)
I do look forward to you submitting individual stories fleshing out some of these anecdotes and more.
