What is queer? I guess it's as much a question of personal identity as a matter of meeting definitions and checking boxes.

To me, a person who sometimes has sex with a same-sex partner (out of personal preference) is queer, even if they call themselves heteroflexible.

But maybe they don't consider themselves queer.

For me, queer means rejecting traditional gender and sexuality roles and behavior. To me, much of the polyamorous world is definitionally queer.

But that's just me.
