What is it with all the restroom policing? It's not like more-masculine-presenting lesbians are some new thing under the sun, especially in New York. I dunno if your office is in NYC or Albany, but in either city, LGBTQ folks are ordinary parts of society.
That woman who tried physically to block you from entering the restroom was likely reacting from her personal opposition to trans women using women's spaces. You got caught up in it because of her obvious inability to know at a glance what your biological sex is. And from her conflation of your rather ordinary lesbian gender presentation with transgender presentation. It's not like butch lesbians are rare birds!
It's discouraging that people like her feel so caught up in policing people's gender and presentation, and policing spaces in the process. It's also a bit outrageous. This is the sort of thing that probably demands formal remedy. HR needs to come down like a hammer. Whether or not they will is the question of the day.
