What I mean is that the organizers of the rallies claim not to, in general, oppose LGBTQ people or endorse hatred -- just to oppose certain education policies that empower trans students. The rally organizers are trying to present themselves as reasonable and rational. When a child on stage picked up a mic to call gay people names, I think he embarrassed those organizers, whose actual anti-LGBTQ hostility (which they claim not to possess) he was almost certainly repeating.
