What helped put this in personal perspective for me is that a trans woman writer for Prism & Pen, an LGBTQ journal I edit, was physically assaulted four times in Liverpool during the month of June because she is transgender.

Four times, strangers put violent hands on her because they disapprove of her gender expression.

I’m sure JK has no understanding of what that’s like, and she has never displayed any introspection about her personal responsibility for stirring up hatred that leads inevitably to violence.

I find myself struggling to feel any sympathy for her.
