What a tepid response to years of blatantly unethical, possibly even corrupt, behavior on the part of at least some justices.
This guidance looks like the court is just going through the motions.
Here's my question. Every other federal judge, including esteemed appellate judges on the circuit courts, have to follow a very thorough set of ethics rules. Much more thorough than what's in the guidance the Supreme Court just released for themselves. So, why don't the supremes just extend that code of conduct to themselves?
Why are they exempt from it? What makes them special? Why are they the least constrained by ethics codes of any government official in the United States?
