What a nice story! I had not heard of the "demure" trend, and my only experience with the word "demure" is a quite sexist description of a woman being commendable because she is quiet, reserved, and shy — particularly in the company of her "betters," meaning men or sometimes older women. It's a word I presumed had seen its day and would slowly die out.
But I see Jools has subtly redefined or reclaimed the term, giving it a positive meaning after its long history of sexist oppression.
That's cool!
Even cooler is that she's using her Internet fame to help other trans people!
Thanks for an encouraging story. :-)
