What a lovely and disturbing story.

I started with the White Dragon, myself, as a lonely gay boy teen. Snatched it off a library shelf almost at random. I couldn’t help but be blown away by all the homoeroticism and homoromanticism I sensed in the writing.

I moved on to a book about Menolly, not sure I remember which. I noticed the green/blue dragon implications immediately – latched on might be a better description.

I didn’t know until today how horrible Ann had been. I haven’t read a Pern novel in decades, but it’s amazing how vividly I remember them and how much I remember them meaning to me.

I’m going to try to remember that, and not the horrible statement Ann made.

Thanks for taking the time to write about all this. I’m still processing, but I appreciate it immensely.
