What a loss! But, hey, Turtles All The Way Down is cool. Your grandchildren might be mad if you didn't hang on to it. I have a first-edition copy of Mysterious Skin signed by Scott Heim at a Chelsea gay book shop where I went to listen to him do a reading from it.

It was special because he (and the book) was totally unknown at the time, so only about 10 people showed up, and we all sat around drinking coffee and chatting with Scott about the writing process.

I flirted outrageously and got his number, but I was never brave enough to call him. Sigh.
