What a fascinating and discouraging article. You show us so clearly how we humans tend to stigmatize the other.

If you don’t mind, I would like to ask a tangential question.

An Indian friend of mine has been teaching me just a little bit about casteism, sharing with me some of the reading she has been doing by Indian academic authors.

I’m curious about the intersection of castism and racism with respect to Indians in the Northeast. Given the relative cultural isolation for such a long period of time, has caste developed there to the same respect that it has in other parts of India?

Is caste experienced differently by Northeast Indians when they travel South?

Sorry if my questions are intrusive, and please don’t feel like you need to answer if you don’t want to. This is just a subject I’ve been looking at.
