Well, what most Americans probably would have liked would have been the actual answer to the question: "The Confederate states rebelled against the United States and started a war to fight for their 'right' to enslave Black people."

That's the long and short of it, what actually happened.

But that message would be offensive to many White people, especially Republicans, in the South.

So, instead, she gave an answer It could be read different ways by different people. People in the south could read her answer is saying that the Confederate states were fighting for their rights.

That's what racists in the South want to hear, and she gave it to them.

I'm glad to see she's been called out so thoroughly. What a horribly unqualified person to be president. She evidently has no integrity, no ethics, and no moral clarity.

No decent human being who isn't a racist or a crass opportunist could have given the answer she gave to that simple question.

She could have told the truth, but she chose not to, which tells us (I think) everything we need to know about her.
