Well, trans people are quite understandably sensitive about pronouns and dead-naming, and far be it from me to belittle their concerns. I am upset, though, that a support group would marginalize you for telling your story. People could have engaged with you instead of making you a target.

I’ll never forget the time a few years ago when I wrote “transgendered” in a story instead of “transgender.”

I was new to trans issues at the time, and I was innocently ignorant of the language issues involved. The heaping portion of scorn and ridicule I received for my mistake still rankles.
