Well stated, Paul. As a Dune fan myself since I was about 13 years old, my instinctive reactions to claims that either the book or the movie were fascist approached simple astonishment.

I had a hard time understanding how anyone could read the trilogy and believe that Herbert was advancing fascist ideals. The opposite just seems so apparent.
