Most Americans live in a universe where Heartstopper is loved, novels are valuable, and children and teenagers are nurtured, respected for who they are.

Then there's reactionary, Christian nationalist America.

We're in something like a civil war right now, and the forces of ignorance and fear are lashing out as hard as they can.

They can't win in the long run, in my opinion, because they don't have the numbers. But they're making life hard and miserable for a lot of people, especially in certain parts of the country.
