Well said! That's such an excellent expansion of and contribution to this story.

I've recently been chatting with a few friends about my lack of loyalty to the Democratic Party. Of course, I recognize the existential threat that Donald Trump poses to democracy in the United States, so the Democrats certainly have my vote, and to a certain extent my loud public support.

But I can't stop thinking about how many of the moral values the Democratic Party are currently centering stand in direct opposition to my own. I can never forgot that many senior Democratic leaders today, including the candidate for president, are on the record promoting xenophobia. That's just one issue.

So I can't be loyal to them, and I must question them, and when necessary apply pressure to encourage them to do better and be better.

I think that's just sensible, but a lot of people don't think it's sensible. Which is kind of a problem, to understate things a little.
