Personally, I always used to feel pretty happy when somebody I came out to, if they were somebody close, asked lots of sincere questions. To me, that meant that they were interested and engaged.

But that's a mixed bag. I know some people prefer not to have to answer a lot of questions.

I think it's probably best to ask something like, "Is it OK if I ask you about some things I don't understand?"
