Well, nobody supposes Geiger was literally calling transgender people animals. Everybody knows that transgender people are literally human beings. But by saying that transgender people should be groomed at pet groomers instead of at human salons, Geiger was comparing transgender people to animals as a deliberate insult. That's what Chasten and I are noting, and I could add that the phenomenon is nothing new. Insulting queer people by saying we are like animals is pretty ordinary in anti-LGBTQ circles. I'm 61 years old and I've been hearing stuff like that since I was 11.

Geiger has made perfectly clear that she is insulting transgender people on purpose by comparing them to animals. That was the entire point of her post.
