Well, is that premise even plausible? It's hard for me to understand how a machine that is emulating human beings as instructed by human beings could be said to have a gender outside of human concepts.

I'm not sure how a gender identity impose on a machine by its programmers could help us understand gender.

Just doesn't seem like a useful idea to me.
