Well, I suppose I should note as an original member of Queer Nation and a long time member of Act Up, that Sullivan has been roundly despised and jeered in activist circles for just about ever.

While cis gay men are certainly not exempt from paternalism, Sullivan is not representative of the cis gay men who were part of the movement toward more equality.

Those of us at the center of that movement have always hated and mocked him.

He’s never been central to the struggle, he’s always been on the outside criticizing and advocating for the patriarchy, then enjoying the privileges we won for him.

He is now and always has been garbage.
