Welcome! As a former popular Quoran, I think I can assure you that the water here is fine. Medium staff go out of their way to support writers, treating us generally as valued members of their team. We have our issues like any community, with distribution algorithms being a touchy subject at the moment, but the level of discontent here is nothing like I experienced on Quora.

For me, moving to Medium is one of the best things I’ve ever done in terms of my writing career. It’s got me published and/or linked in major media sources and forced me to up my game considerably.

Medium isn’t easy. It doesn’t have the huge, built-in audience that Quora has, so you have to learn how to promote if that’s what you want. But tons of people here are willing to help with that. Medium writers are good folks for the most part.
