Very much so, Krishen. As a matter of fact, I posted the link to this article on two very large LGBT communities on Facebook. While the response there was largely favorable, I did receive strong pushback from people using “slut shaming” language.

Some of them also tried to claim that I was perpetuating negative stereotypes about gay men.

Fortunately, I was able to flip that script and educate a little about how there are many ways of being culturally gay, none necessarily more valid or valuable than the other.

All in all, the experience was more productive, I think, than Donahoe’s own on Facebook. He’s had to restrict access to his page because of the outpouring of hate he’s received.
