Very much so, James. If I were writing this piece again, I would emphasize your point more carefully, because while it was in the back of my mind as I wrote, I didn’t elaborate on it like I should have.

I honestly didn’t even plan to write this. I was working on a story about how homophobia and transphobia both spring from misogyny when, truth be told, I got pissed at the umpteenth straight/cis progressive person on Twitter who pontificated to me about how nobody is really homophobic anymore.

You can read what that straw said to my camel’s back in the pull quote I chose up near the top. I got mad and pounded out this story instead of the one I was writing.

Next time I do something like that, I should run it by you first to make sure I don’t forget to include critical points like the one you raise here.
