Very much so. When I briefly did sex work in my youth in New York City, I worked out of a bar with a strict dress code and looks code. That put me fairly high up on the hierarchy system but not as high as elite private escorts.

Below me were the boys who hustled cars on the corner.

But all of us were subject to arrest, social shaming, poor access to health care, and mental health problems caused by stigmatization.

There’s no reason for any of this. It’s unnecessary and cruel.
