Trafficking is something I saw a little of and heard more of in that demi-world, but what’s interesting is that the world itself wasn’t about trafficking. It just gave traffickers a place to hide and blend in.
Sam from Texas wasn’t trafficked. He was a tough kid who did his own thing, as sad and tragic as that is. The fact that the world was dark and not open to scrutiny is what made Sam’s tragedy hard to fix and what also gave traffickers a place to stay out of trouble.
It’s not just the illegality that keeps that world dark, though. Fixing laws (if we can even figure how best to do that) can only be part of the solution.
