It was such a non-issue during the Hellenistic age that even though Galen and others published information about abortifacients, not one writer of the Biblical canon or one contemporary commentator on the Biblical canon saw fit to write a single word about abortion.
And none of these people were exactly feminists! (To say the least.)
No, opposition to birth control and abortion didn’t capture any public attention until women began challenging patriarchy.
Once women began to stand up for true equality, all sorts of opposition arose to keep women down. Trying to control women’s bodies by making then carry unwanted pregnancies to term is just one extreme example.
