To go a step further, the descendants of the people who were looted from face diminished opportunity in life, through no fault of their own.

This counts as much for descendants of Black American enslaved people as it does for lower caste people in India who were and still are looted by people in upper castes who deprive them of economic opportunities they wish to reserve for themselves and their fellow caste members.

Recognizing past and current looting, the question of reparations for looted people has come into play.

It’s a subject of debate in the United States, where many people try to deny that the descendants of enslaved people face diminished opportunities.

The fact that they do is really not debatable. It’s self-evident to every American. The denial keeps happening because people don’t wish to face up to the consequences of true equality.
