Those photos are gorgeous!

Persistence reminds me of a pelican that once stuck with my dad and me almost all day long as we were fishing from a small boat on Lake Okeechobee in Florida. We had great big "shiners" as live bait, and the pelican swooped in every time we cast, seemingly looking for a free lunch.

You should have seen my dad's astonished face the time the pelican actually got the shiner in its mouth and then got hooked.

We had to reel the pelican in and carefully remove the hook from its mouth.

Think that stopped him? Nope, he continued hanging around hoping he could get another shiner.

Talk about persistence!
