This seems so counterproductive! Many of the dedicated teachers I've known in my life have complained about the low pay and for working conditions, but then they'd say that good benefits and good retirement packages sort of made up for it.

If retirement becomes an unachievable dream, like it sounds in this case, how are you going to recruit bright young people to become teachers?
