This may be easier said than done, Done with Religion.

As a gay man, I’ve known many conservative Christians who were outwardly kind and respectful to me, while still preaching a religion of sin and hate.

They had no trouble associating with me, but they’d go to the ballot box and vote against my equal civil rights.

They urge their fellow believers to be nice, while at the same time insisting that I must not have the right to marry my partner or receive equal services in public accomodations.

They don’t have a problem sitting down and sharing a meal with me, but they don’t want other gay people like me to be allowed to adopt or foster children.

And then they congratulate themselves for being good Christians because they smile and act nice to me to my face.

And you know what?

We’re not looking for people to be outwardly nice to us.

That isn’t the point. It isn’t even half the point.

We demand full and unconditional equality. We demand that Christians stop calling us sinners.

We demand that we be treated just exactly like everyone else. To many Christians, that’s a radical and impossible demand.

And I don’t get it.

At all.

What is it about Christianity that fucks so many people up so badly? I’d really like to know.

What is it about Christianity that makes so many people bound and determined to deprive us of our full human and civil rights?

I wish I knew.

You know what I wish more? That conservative Christians would learn to be decent human beings. Cause we’re really fucking tired of their shit-- especially since they’ve now got Trump to fuck us so hard up the ass in so many ways.

Being nice to us doesn’t really help when you’ve got the President stopping us from serving in the military or taking a leak when we have to go.
