This is the crux. Seeing the problem.

I’ve been writing about racism and Black Lives Matter instead of about LGBT Pride Month, because so many LGBTQ people DON’T see the problem of racism. And if I have any small platform, it is among my fellow gender and sexual minorities.

What I’ve been learning day by day is that opening eyes is very hard. When people are more comfortable not seeing, keeping eyes shut is almost reflexive.

Speaking out makes as difference, though. So we must. And many of us do. One step at a time.
