This is such an important point. LDS church leaders encourage gay youths and young men to attend therapy that's supposedly going to cure them of being gay, and then the church pays for the therapy in many cases.
And as we see in this article, the so-called therapists are often entrenched in the church hierarchy.
So, "follow the money" takes on a takes on a very pointed meaning. Following the money shows us a closed loop of a major church sponsoring conversion therapy, referring people to it, paying for it, and financially benefiting its own church members who are conducting it.
No wonder they fought so vigorously for a religious exemption to Utah's conversion therapy ban.
