This is such a commonly reported experience! Trans people often talk about puberty 2.0, but we gay folks often have a sort of delayed social adolescence. Unlike our straight peers, we don't much get to practice dating and relationships in high school, so we end up behind the bell curve in romance skills compared to our straight peers. Like you, my uni days were also not exactly chock full of dating given my Iowa location and the need to be closeted because I was in ROTC.

I also went a little crazy when I finally had the chance, but thank goodness not by turning to meth or something else like that. There, but for the grace of God, as they say ...
