This is really something. A college known for academic freedom and inquiry hired and advanced into tenure track a professor with known for championing LGBTQ-affirming beliefs and practices.

They knew who they were getting when they hired him, and it's very likely part of why they hired him.

Then they changed their minds, not because the professor's views are becoming less accepted in the Christian academic world, but apparently because they're becoming more accepted and donors are beginning to panic over that.

We're seeing something like the same phenomenon at Seattle Pacific University, which I've written a couple articles about lately.

The faculty is overwhelmingly LGBTQ affirming, but the Board Of Trustees won't tolerate that. Their response is to enforce policies discriminating against LGBTQ faculty and affirming beliefs and practices.

In an article I just published yesterday, I wrote about how the trustees hired a high-powered PR firm and what amounts to a religious PR firm called Posture Shift to try to obscure and justify their discriminatory behavior.

But none of that changes the fact that the Christians on their faculty don't agree with them about LGBTQ issues.

The big question is, what happens now?
