This is perhaps a trite example and not completely on point, but I like to point out that militaries all over the world have begun aggressively recruiting women to become fighter pilots.

The trend started with Israel and has spread as far as India. Nobody is quite sure why, but something about being a woman seems to make a person disproportionately disposed to being a good fighter pilot. (Some suggest that it’s because women are more likely to be cool under pressure.)

However one thinks about the military and fighter pilots in general, it’s worth observing that nothing about being a woman makes a person weak. The idea that men are strong and women are weak is nothing but a construct that reinforces hierarchy, and even highly conservative organizations like militaries adapt to that reality when it suits them.
