This is outrageous. The pink triangle is one of the most powerful symbols of queer liberation, because it's the symbol the Nazis forced us to wear in the concentration camps before they gassed us to death.
This is historical fact and not the slightest bit subject to controversy. Transgender and gay people were common and often "out" in Weimar Germany before the Nazis rose to power, as we were in other parts of Europe.
In fact, one of the ways the Nazis appealed for popular support was through the demonization of queer people. The Night of the Long Knives is one example, when Hitler had political rivals murdered. He justified it in part by telling the public he was going after the queers.
