This is my first interaction with this woman. She responded in a morally evil and repugnant way to an article about homophobic bigotry.

She spent hours trying to defend such bigotry to me.

She’s a vile, immoral bigot.

In my own activism, I have concentrated on ending oppression of LGBTQ people, as that’s an issue that has touched me directly since I was a small boy.

I never forget, however, how forms oppression intersect. Racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of bigotry all spring from a similar, dark place in human nature.

The vile woman I interacted with this afternoon exemplifies that darkness.

She’s actually arguing in favor of oppression and discrimination.

That’s disgusting.

I will always empathize and emphasize particularly with oppressed LGBTQ people, but I’ll also care deeply about people of color, about women, and about any human being who’s being hurt because they’re different.

The woman who I interacted with this afternoon wants people to be free to harm people who are members of minorities.

There’s no excuse for that.

None.
