This is important observation! So, it's worth noting, possibly, that quite a bit of diversity exists in U.S. Christian denominations surrounding women in leadership.

Catholic and Evangelical Protestant churches are among the worst, just unapologetically sexist — relegating women to positions of service and support, and excluding them almost entirely from leadership. On purpose. The LDS Church is just as bad.

But the situation is different in some mainline Protestant denominations and some others. True gender equity does not yet exist, but rapid change is happening. The United Church of Christ, the Episcopal Church, and the United Methodist Church — for example — are adding women to the ranks of pastors at breathtaking rates, and that includes women married to other women.

Deliberately seeking out gender-inclusive denominations could be a powerful step Christians to take to advance progress.
