This is amazing writing, Patsy. It’s all so vivid than it takes me back to that time only a few weeks ago when we sat around my father’s bedside holding his hand, waiting for his passing.
Feeling death in the room, how that resonates with me. Feeling guilty when there’s just no need of it, how that resonates with me too.
Losing a parent is terribly hard at any age, but especially I think when you’re young. Maybe we haven’t yet learned how we can’t control the world, about how death pays us no heed.
I’m terribly sorry for the pain you had to experience, but I’m happy you wrote about it so well because sharing is important.
