This is a very broad statement. In progressive Christian circles it's very common to hear God referred to as feminine and with feminine pronouns. The sort of theology you are describing is certainly common among Evangelical and other conservative Christians, of course.
But if you were to attend services at certain Episcopal, United Methodist, or United Church of Christ congregations (i.e. mainline Protestant), hearing God referred in the feminine would not be strange. Nor would alternating references or all-gender references be unusual.
