This is a story about about a girl who used to identify as a trans boy and who had a mastectomy at the age of 15. She did not have genital surgery, and the hospitals at the heart of this story (Bostion Children's and Chidlren's National) do not and never have performed gender-affirming mastectomies on 15 year olds. They do not perform gender-affirming genital surgery on anyone under 18.

I don't know why this 15-year-old underwent a mastectomy. Surgeons in the U.S. generally follow standards of care that preclude such procedures in young teens. There may be a case for better medical board supervision, but not for the children's hospital attacks in question. Those attacks are not based in reality.

It's also worth noting that only about 2% of all trans people who being social transition as teenagers end up detranistioning.
